Snoring Prevention


Most people would agree that snoring prevention is better than cure snoring. The snoring problem is one that bothers millions of people around the world. Normally the people concentrate on finding a solution after they have the problem instead of preventing the problem from ever arising. Prevention is the best solution to a situation that could happen. Snoring is no different than any other problem if you want to prevent it from happening you have to attack the root of the problem. Most snoring problems have an easy solution that doesn’t require surgery although there is a small percent of people that would require it.


What causes snoring

This is the most overlooked of all snoring remedies and easily ignored by most people. One of the most effective ways of snoring prevention is to lose weight. Losing weight requires a true compromise with yourself. The best way is to start a new way of eating which means eating healthy (plenty of vegetables and fruits) once you do this you will start losing weight especially around the neck area toning the throat muscles and eliminating the fat that constrict the airway which contributes to the snoring.

Believe it or not there are several exercises that could help you reduce that snoring. The normal exercises can help you lose weight as well decrease the snoring but there are other types of exercises that also help. One exercise that could help you is practicing taking light breaths; since the speed of the inhaled air is one of the components to snoring you can practice reducing its speed to reduce the snoring sound. Another exercise that you could use is singing the way choir practitioners do. That way you can strengthen the throat muscles in a way when the air passes the tissue doesn’t vibrate as much decreasing the snoring.

Other ways to prevent snoring

Snoring prevention is also possible in many other ways like changing your sleeping position. Most people snore when they sleep on their backs when they change to side position the snoring disappears. 

Avoid drinking alcohol, sleeping pills and tranquilizers before bed time as they relax the throat tissues which contribute to block the airways and create snoring. Quitting smoking will also help a lot to prevent snoring as the smoke in your lungs cause inflammation of the air passages.

Allergies and colds can also produce snoring. Maintaining your nasal passages clear will help in preventing your snoring. Avoid eating dairy products as they tend to stuff your nose. Another trick that you can use is to elevate the head of your bed like 4 inches to prevent the tongue from falling to the throat and block the air passages. You can use some wood blocks or bricks under the legs of the bed to increase the angle of the bed.
