Nasal Congestion Relief
Nasal congestion relief can be easily achieved by several means. Normally when people refer to nasal congestion they mean their nose is stuffed. Reality is that the nose feels congested because the tissue in the nasal area becomes swollen and not because there is too much mucus in the nose. Nasal congestion is normally caused by a virus and its effects are gone within the week.
For newborn babies having nasal congestion can be life threatening as they must breathe through their noses. When children get older the nasal congestion won’t threaten their life but will bother them a lot. A person’s hearing and speech can be severely affected by a nasal congestion. Nasal congestion relief is necessary to prevent the congestion from getting more intense and develop into sleep apnea.
One of the major causes of snoring and sleep apnea is severe nasal congestion. Enlarged adenoids are usually the main culprit in the nasal congestion among children. This situation can cause sleep apnea in children resulting in a low oxygen intake and damage to the heart. It can also affect the children’s attention span and learning rate.

congestion causes
Nasal
congestion can be caused by several things like a cold, allergies,
flu, rhinitis and sinus infections. Colds and flu are caused by
viruses and usually last from 1 to 2 weeks and the nasal congestion
related to them last approximately around the same time. Sometimes
the congestion is caused by using too much nasal sprays precisely to
achieve the nasal
congestion relief.
These sprays can only be used around 3 consecutive days max otherwise it could worsen any nasal problems you might be suffering. Sinus infections normally produced by bacteria are a different matter; they are usually handled with antibiotics. Allergies can be triggered by environmental factors but ultimately the immune system is responsible for the effects.
Nasal congestion Solutions
Finding a way to get nasal congestion relief is not complicated. Using a saline nasal spray works well for 2 or 3 days but you cannot use more than that or the congestion will become worse. Nasal strips can help you to breathe easier and reduce the snoring produced by the congestion. You can apply a hot towel to your face for 5 minutes and that will help increasing the circulation in the sinuses.
Drinking
hot fluids like green tea will help a lot too in
moisturizing the
mucus membrane and relieving the congestion. Some medications can
help treat the nasal stuffiness but these aren’t very effective
after a while. Using an air humidifier can help a lot to keep your
nose from getting stuffed especially when you are going to
sleep. Try
to keep your head in an elevated position in order to reduce the
congestion when you are l
ying down.
For babies
you can use an infant
nasal aspirator to remove the excessive amount of mucus in their
nose. You can also use a couple saline nose drops in order to lose
some of the mucus. Remember the best cure is prevention so keep a
healthy life style to reduce the chances of nasal congestion.
